The Development Cycle
EVALUATION BEFORE PRESCRIPTION
Every Player Deserves an Honest Development Plan
The Player Development Evaluation is the preferred starting point for new Royal United FC athletes. Before recommending private training, group development, speed work, video analysis, or competitive opportunities, we first work to understand the individual player.
- Technical ability and comfort with the ball
- Soccer IQ, scanning, awareness, and decision-making
- Movement quality, coordination, speed, balance, and agility
- Competitive confidence, focus, and response to pressure
- Coachability, learning habits, and developmental readiness
- A written report with strengths, priorities, and recommended next steps
The goal is not simply to identify weaknesses. The goal is to identify the most effective pathway for meaningful growth.

Assess the player.
Define the priorities.
Build the right pathway.

A Development Environment Built Around the Player
The work that became Royal United FC began in 2021 and was formally established in 2025. It grew from a clear conviction: young athletes deserve more than generic exercises, vague feedback, and one-size-fits-all programming.
Coach Nicholas combines competitive playing experience, advanced education, coaching practice, sports performance principles, and a player-centered teaching philosophy. His professional profile also includes membership in the Professional Football Scouts Association (PFSA), complementing his work in player observation, tactical understanding, performance analysis, and long-term development. His role is not simply to demonstrate drills. It is to help players recognize problems, understand solutions, and become increasingly capable of acting independently when the game demands it.
Successful players are not merely trained. They are intentionally developed.

Coach Cory
We had our first training session Coach Nicholas and it was outstanding. From the very beginning, he was welcoming, organized, and clearly passionate about teaching soccer. In just one lesson, you can already see his ability to build confidence and develop real skills. I haven’t seen my son this excited about soccer in a while.

Understand the Royal United Pathway
Questions Before the First Session?
Royal United FC is built around clarity. Explore how the academy works, who it serves, and how your player begins the development process.
Is Royal United FC a traditional soccer club?
Royal United FC is an independent player-development academy. Many athletes also compete with recreational, competitive, school, or club teams. Our role is to provide individualized technical, tactical, athletic, and mental development that team environments cannot always deliver in depth. When appropriate, Royal United FC may also organize selected small-sided and tournament opportunities.
Who can train with Royal United FC?
Royal United FC works with beginners, developing players, and competitive athletes. The most important requirement is a willingness to learn, accept coaching, and train with purpose. Recommendations are based on the player’s age, experience, current needs, and developmental readiness.
Why does the process begin with a player evaluation?
Evaluation removes guesswork. It allows the coaching staff to identify the player’s strengths, habits, priorities, movement profile, Soccer IQ, confidence, and developmental readiness before recommending a training pathway. The objective is not simply to add more training hours; it is to provide the right training for the individual player.
What areas of development are addressed?
The Royal United Development System integrates technical development, tactical intelligence and decision-making, speed and agility, age-appropriate strength and conditioning, individual performance analysis, competitive confidence, communication, leadership, discipline, and execution under pressure.
Where is training held?
Royal United FC is based at 3380 International Golf Parkway in St. Augustine, Florida, in the World Golf Village area. We serve families throughout St. Johns County and surrounding Northeast Florida communities.
How does a family get started?
The preferred first step is to submit a Player Evaluation request. After reviewing the player’s age, experience, current environment, and goals, Royal United FC will contact the family to schedule the evaluation and discuss the most appropriate next step.
Ready to establish the right starting point?
Begin with a professional evaluation built around your player’s current needs and long-term development.
